Sony Cyber-shot W7
As seven megapixel becomes more common in the marketplace, Sony has announced the Sony Cyber-shot W7 which is part of the second generation of Sony’s ‘traditionally-styled’ compacts.
With more or less the same features as the Cyber-shot P200 in a larger more conventionally-styled body, the W7 is designed to appeal to the first-time user moving from a film camera to digital.
The camera is a 7.2 megapixels digital camera with a 3x optical zoom. It has a large 2.5″ LCD which probably hurts the overal battery life, but looks really nice. It uses a Memory Stick slot, which might put off a few people, but surprisingly Sony has had a fair amount of success with their W-series cameras, as many people find the new ultra-compacts a little too compact, especially men. The W7 is build like a tank, and has a really solid, ‘quality’ feel to it.
One of the more noticeable negatives about the camera is that its flash recycle is slow unless batteries very fresh, red-eye mode adds long delay.
The camera is currently on the market for between $320 and $400 USD.
