Sony CCD Advisory Notice

October 3, 2005 - It has recently come to our attention that a limited number of Sony Digital Still Cameras that incorporate an image sensor device, CCD Chip, manufactured from October 2002 through March 2004 may exhibit the following condition:

When the Digital Still Camera is used in camera mode, the LCD panel and/or electronic viewfinder will show either a distorted image or no image.

We have determined that this condition only occurs to a limited number of units.

In its effort to ensure customer satisfaction, Sony has elected to offer a free repair to the owners of applicable Digital Still Cameras if the image sensor device, CCD chip, causes one of the above-mentioned conditions. Accordingly, customers who have a Sony Digital Still Camera as outlined below and if said Sony Digital Still Camera exhibits the above-mentioned condition caused by the image sensor device, CCD chip, may contact the special call center set forth below for free repair:

  1. Model DSC-F717 exhibits the cause noted in the above Sony CCD Advisory Notice.

    Please provide information needed to ship Digital Still Camera Model DSC-F717 for repair.
