Casio Exilim Z-1000 Review

Casio Exilim Z-1000Digital Photography Review has a great review up on the Z-1000, a special compact digital camera, as it was the first to break through the 10 megapixel barrier in a compact form.

Announced back in April, the Casio EX-Z1000 was the first compact to break the 10 megapixel barrier, though it was soon followed by a cascade of models featuring what we presume to be the same (Sony) 10.3MP 1/1.8-inch CCD sensor. Headline-grabbing double digit pixel count aside this is pretty standard Exilim fayre; friendly operation and ease of use, 3x optical zoom and stylish, slim, all-metal body. The 2.8-inch 16:9 aspect ratio wide screen LCD is unusual, but at its heart this is a point-and-shoot model in the truest sense, albeit one with more than a dash of style.

They liked the resolution, and the good edge-to-edge detail as well as the all-metal body, its build and finish, and how easy it is to use. Some negatives they mentioned include a noisy ISO 400+, as well as a misleading “image stabilization” mode, which only increases the ISO, and does not really stabilize. This seems to be one to try before buying, though it did end up getting a recommended rating.

Check out other cameras getting up there in the megapixel ratings on Digital Camera HQ.

Casio Exilim Card EX-S770

Casio Exilim Card EX-S770Casio has released a 7.2 megapixel camera, named the EX-S770, which looks stylish and can record videos in MPEG-4 format. It features a 2.8 inch super bright widescreen LCD.

The stainless steel body of the EX-S770 is available in three exciting colors: premium silver, blazing red, and graphite blue. In addition to recording VGA-size movies in MPEG-4 format, the EX-S770 can record 16:9 aspect ratio movies compatible with wide-screen TVs.

An interesting feature of the software the camera comes with is the Data Transport software which enables computer data — including business documents, e-mail, and Web pages — to be automatically converted to JPEG format and transferred to the camera. For instance, tourist attractions and maps that users have looked up on the internet can be viewed on the camera’s LCD, eliminating the need to carry around a guidebook.

Casio Exilim EX-S600 Review

Casio Exilim EX-S600ThinkCamera has a review up on the Casio Exilim EX-S600.

The S600 is a camera which can truly be called “pocket-sized”. Not much bigger than a credit card, a mere 13.7mm thin at the thinnest point, and weighing in at 115g I could carry the camera around all day in a pocket without it becoming a nuisance or weighing me down.

With a metal body and a sleek design you automatically feel that this is a special piece of kit. In other cameras of a similar size, you often see a cutback in features such as zoom and resolution, but not with the S600. A steady 6.0 million pixels, remarkably clear and sharp 2.2” LCD screen and 3x optical zoom seems to sit comfortably next to the £200 price tag.

They give it a respectable rating of six out of ten, mostly due to the slow cycle time for taking images.

Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z700

Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z700A new 7.2 megapixel digital camera from Casio in the Exilim Zoom EX-Z700. It comes with a 3x optical zoom, and a super bright 2.7 inch LCD display which is said to be very easy to see, even on a sunny day. It uses a battery pack, whcih needs to be recharged, but is rated at around 460 pictures on a single charge. The camera also comes with Casio’s Anti Shake DSP, to reduce blur effects due to a less than steady hand or moving subjects.

It looks like it could be a nice pocket camera to have, though I am not thrilled with its very average optical zoom and lack of optical viewfinder. I look forward to reading reviews on it.

Casio Exilim Z60 Review from LetsGoDigital

Casio Exilim Z60LetsGoDigital has a review up on the Casio Exilim Z60, a tiny digital camera.

This ‘credit card’ sized camera has extremely compact measurements, and the breadth of just 19.8mm (the thinnest point is even 16.2mm) will totally amaze many consumers. The Casio Exilim Z60 has a resolution of 6 Megapixels and a 3x optical zoom. The resolution is slightly better than that of its predecessor, the Casio Z50 and six Megapixels is the applicable norm nowadays.

The Casio Exilim EX Z60 compact camera has been available on the market for several months and was noticed immediately thanks to its predecessors. The Casio Exilim Z60 is a little camera that is particularly suited to photographers who want to capture a favourite moment quickly and easily. A camera like this should be no trouble to take along so that you can always have it on you. The Exilim Z60 is one of Casio’s prize products and is intended to capture a greater share of the market.

In the end the Casio Exilim Z60 gets a 74% from LetsGoDigital.

Casio Exilim Card EX-S600D Takes DivX Movies

This is one of the coolest things I have seen lately is the Casio Exilim Card EX-S600D, a digital camera that is pretty average for the the most part, except for the fact that it can take movies in the DivX format.

DivX is a popular and cutting edge video compression technology which delivers high-quality video in reduced file sizes.

Casio Exilim Card EX-S600D

Otherwise you are looking at a 3x optical zoom, 2.2 inch LCD and anti-shake technology. So far this camera is only scheduled to be in the European market, but hopefully I will get to see it here in Canada. I feel bad for everyone in the USA that almost can’t get any DivX enabled technology.
